Introduction
A man's sexuality is a gift from God. But it's also a battleground. More men struggle with sexual temptation than will ever admit it. Pornography, lust, adultery — these things destroy men's faith, their marriages, their sense of self.
We live in a culture that screams 'Follow your desires!' But biblical manhood means stewarding your sexuality wisely. It means bringing it under Christ's authority.
This isn't repression. It's not shame. It's the healthy acknowledgment that sexual desire is good — but like all good gifts, it can be misused.
I. Your Body Belongs to God (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Paul writes, 'Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price.'
When a man understands that his body is God's temple, he begins to treat it with reverence and respect.
II. Lust Begins in the Mind (Matthew 5:27-30)
Jesus says, 'You have heard that it was said, Do not commit adultery. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.'
This is not optional. Jesus says if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. Obviously not literally — but the point is clear: deal with temptation aggressively.
III. Sexual Fulfillment Belongs in Covenant (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)
'It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable.'
A man of God doesn't chase every attractive woman. He doesn't consume pornography. He doesn't fantasize. He guards his heart and his mind, and he invests his sexuality in his covenant relationship.
Appeal
If you're enslaved to lust, there's a way out. It starts with repentance. It continues with accountability, with putting barriers in place, with redirecting your mind and energy.
Your sexuality is a gift. Use it wisely. Guard your heart. Keep your mind pure. And experience the freedom and satisfaction that comes from living according to God's design.
