Prophecy That Points to Jesus

Daniel 7 reveals that the great empires of history — Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome — were not random. They rose and fell under God's sovereign watch. And every one of them, no matter how powerful, gave way to the only kingdom that will never fall: the kingdom of God, given to the Son of Man.

Daniel 9 contains one of the most remarkable prophecies in Scripture — a timeline given centuries before Christ that predicted the exact period when the Messiah would appear and be 'cut off.' When Paul says Jesus came 'in the fullness of time,' he is describing a God who does not guess at history but governs it. The seventy weeks prophecy is God's fingerprint on the timeline of redemption.

When most people hear 'judgment,' they think condemnation. But the judgment scene in Daniel 7 is not about God condemning His people — it is about God vindicating them. The court sits, the books are opened, and the verdict goes in favor of the saints. The same scene appears in Revelation 5, where the Lamb is found worthy to open the scroll. God's judgment is the moment when everything wrong is finally made right.

The Old Testament kept the roles of priest, prophet, and king strictly separate — and for good reason. No one human could be trusted with all three. But Daniel's vision of the Son of Man receiving dominion, glory, and a kingdom reveals someone who holds all three offices perfectly. Jesus is the prophet who speaks God's truth, the priest who intercedes for God's people, and the king who rules God's kingdom — and He holds all three without corruption.

Prophecy was never given to satisfy curiosity about the future — it was given to change how we live in the present. Daniel's visions end with a call to faithfulness, wisdom, and hope. The same call applies to us. If we truly believe we are living in the last days, the proper response is not fear or speculation — it is faithfulness, readiness, and love.
