Introduction

Paul describes the armor of God: Belt of truth. Breastplate of righteousness. Shoes of readiness. Shield of faith. Helmet of salvation. Sword of the Spirit.

This isn't literal metal. It's spiritual protection. Each piece represents something essential for standing against spiritual attack.

The key is that this armor is provided. We don't make it ourselves. We put on what God has given us.

I. The Belt of Truth and Breastplate of Righteousness (Ephesians 6:14)

'Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, and the breastplate of righteousness in place.'

Truth is fundamental. It's what holds everything together. The enemy operates through lies. You counter with truth.

Righteousness is living rightly. Not perfection, but integrity. Doing what's right even when no one's watching.
When you live with truth and integrity, the enemy has no foothold. You're not open to his accusations and attacks.

These aren't just personal benefits. They're armor that protects you.

Where are you believing lies? Where are you compromising integrity? That's where you're vulnerable.

II. Feet, Shield, and Helmet (Ephesians 6:15-17)

'and your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.'

You're ready to move, to act, to respond. The gospel of peace gives you confidence and direction.

'In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.'
The shield is faith. When attacks come—accusations, doubts, fears—faith defends you. Belief in God's promises protects you.

'Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.'

Your head is protected by the certainty of salvation. And your weapon is the word of God. Not a physical sword, but truth spoken and lived.

III. Putting On the Armor (Romans 13:12, as context)

'The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.'

Putting on armor isn't a one-time event. It's a daily practice. You put on the belt of truth each day. You live with righteousness each day.

As you practice these disciplines, you become increasingly protected.
This isn't burdensome. It's freedom. When you live with truth, righteousness, faith, and confidence in salvation, you're not vulnerable to the enemy's attacks.

What armor are you neglecting? Where are you vulnerable?

This week, intentionally put on each piece. Thank God for his truth. Practice integrity. Exercise faith. Claim your salvation. Know his word.

Conclusion & Appeal

God has provided complete protection. Nothing is missing. Nothing is lacking.

The question is whether you'll put it on. Whether you'll live with truth, righteousness, faith, and confidence in who you are in Christ.

Do that, and you're protected. You can stand against anything the enemy throws at you.
